I. WHAT IS INTERNET ADDICTION?
Internet Addiction, also known as compulsive Internet use, is a behavioral addiction marked by a compulsive desire to perform one or more online activity, including gaming, social media, or browsing. Internet Addiction is generally understood to be a mental disorder involving obtrusive behavior and it occurs when an individual spends much more time on the Internet than is considered reasonable.
According to (Simsek et al., 2019), Internet addiction is defined as the decrease in the importance of time when the internet is not used, excessive irritability and aggression in cases where the Internet is not accessible despite the demand, and the disruption of the social, work and family life of the individual.
5 TYPES OF INTERNET ADDICTION
1. Computer Addiction
This type of internet addiction is what most people think of right off the bat. Computer addiction or computer gaming addiction, simply involves activities that can be performed on a computer, both on and offline. Researchers found that people were developing computer or gaming addictions, wherein they were spending significant amounts of time playing these and other games, and suffering as a result.
2. Cybersex Addiction
Cybersex addiction is comprised of online pornography, adult chat rooms and websites, and web cam services. An obsession with any of the aforementioned can prove harmful to one's life, specifically in their relationships. An individual who is addicted to porn or another service of sexual nature often struggle to form intimate, romantic, and/or sexual relationships in real life.
3. Online Relationship Addiction
Those with an online relationship addiction are obsessed with finding and maintaining relationships online, which often leads to Their neglecting in-person relationships, such as those with family members and friends. These online relationships are typically created chat rooms or social media platforms, but can be formed anywhere online. Oftentimes, people who pursue relationships online do so fake name and persona that's why it is considered harmful to one's mental and emotional well-being.
4. Net Compulsions
Net compulsions refer to online activities like gambling, auctioning, shopping, and trading stocks. These habits can have a negative mental, emotional, and financial impact on an individual, as losing an excessive amount of money can cause significant stress in one's life.
5. Compulsive Information Seeking
Compulsive information seeking is acting on that uncontrollable urge to Google (or Bing). Some people just can’t resist gathering information on the web, from the symptoms of an illness to random facts about a celebrity, how to change a tire, etc. This form of internet addiction can negatively affect one’s performance at work and even lead to severe anxiety issues.

Philippines is considered one of the country that have an enormous percentage of internet users.In fact, in 2019,70 % of the population was using the internet And by 2025 it is estimated that there would be 77.1 % of the population using the internet By this enormous number of users .There comes the threat of the experienced internet Addiction.By this growing number of users internet addiction and it's effect might become as much worse.with such issue we strongly advocate the use of ICT in effectively desiminate information to all people in our own simple ways by using the different social media platforms.
This campaign aims to raise awareness about internet addiction among all netizens most especially to help all people who are experiencing internet Addiction to slowly control it and see the world and the beauty of life clearly. We know that the internet has brought us life changing effects and our lives now is truly dependent on it, but we should also look to other perspective on it. An addiction is hard to beat on your own, but us in this campaign advocate the importance of action is much better than just taking precautions.
People must know about the awareness of the things that we can do to slowly control it. It will always be a good start if we start this action in ourselves by getting over the internet and share some real life experiences of people we love, Invite over your friends and have some fun Activities, take off your gadgets Go out more frequently, make your loved ones your priority. Do the things that make you happy the things you love and lastly try to maintain your real life relationship more than your internet relationship.
This campaign also wanted to emphasize the 5 crucial ways to control INTERNET ADDICTION.
1. Self control - block out
distracting website's for a set amount of time.
2. Concentrate - maximize focus while shifting between different task.
3. Think - limit your attention to a single application at a time.
4. Anti social - instantly block the social websites that are killing your focus.
5. Time out - remind yourself to take regular breaks to keep your focus sharp.
II. What is Internet Addiction and how can I prevent it?
We
already know that we are living in a world where the number of technology
arises per year; android phones, IPhone’s, tablets, computers, social media and
especially internet, these things were brought by the technologies. We are
risking our lives by using all of these technologies and platforms every minute
and this leads to addiction, one of the most known sources of this kind of
addiction was the internet. All of what does it brings.
So what is Internet? The internet is a global
network of billions of computers and other electronic devices. With the
internet, it's possible to access any information, communicate anyone else all
over the world, play games, visit website and do much more. Because of the
infinite ideas and fun the internet gives to the people this will then lead to
internet addiction. Internet addiction is brought from the internet itself,
when someone cannot control their eagerness just to keep in touch with the
internet every minute, that's what internet addiction is.

There are reasons why
one suffers from internet addiction, examples are; Lack of emotional support,
when one is lack of emotional support they tend to find something that can
supply their needs such as the internet, they turn to the internet to fill this
need. Another one is when someone is stress or unhappy, to make themselves busy
and escapes pain they'll focus on something that can get them busy and the best
thing that will give those is the internet. Next is when your lack of focus, when you enjoyed something in the internet just like playing games or shopping
online that will also causes internet addiction. Lastly is when you're
communicating with your favorite person, in that case you wanted to just talk
to his/her day and night, waiting for his/her replies and that's a great source
of internet addiction. But can we prevent it? In what ways?

We can prevent it
by learning how to put limitations and controlling ourselves, we are the one
who choose to be addicted by the internet and that's no one's fault we should
also be the one how to cope up with it. Some tips on how to prevent internet
addiction are; (1) Self-control, set time alarms or put limits on when and
until when you should only use the internet. (2)Concentrate, in order to
succeed in what you are doing you must be concentrated and don't let the
internet distract you. (3)Think, always think before you start you should not
only focus on one platform, you should be exploring some too. (4)Find something
to do when it's not yet your time for the internet, in that way you will be
distracted in using the internet in wrong time. Lastly (5) Time out,
always remind yourself to rest or to take a break every after using the
internet this will help you avoid addiction. Those are some tips on how to
prevent Internet Addiction. There is no one we can run to except ourselves when
it talks about internet addiction.
